Olympia odos’ traffic management centre in N. Peramos

The new-state-of-the-art traffic management centre of Olympia Odos is located in Nea Peramos. In the centre, the images from the cameras are being projected in a technologically advanced video wall with twelve 60 inches monitors.

The center has 4 work stations, it is equipped with an upgraded system for automatic detection of incidents and with a brand new control system that allows the remote operation of the fire extinguish, irrigation, street lighting, tunnel security and traffic signing systems. Moreover, new metereological stations are also connected to the centre for early warning and dealing with extreme weather phenomena.

Until today, the Patrol-Interference squads as well as the Road Assistance deal with more than 60 incidents on a daily basis, reaching an average response time of 15 minutes in most cases.

The total number of fatal accidents has already decreased by 60%. This reduction is a result of the establishment of a specific mechanism for the incidents management on a 24-hour basis, of the cooperation with emergency services (police, fire service, ambulance service) and with the public sector, as well as of the continuous maintenance of traffic adjustments.
