Alstom testing hybrid trains on Romanian Railways

In Greece almost 50% of the main route Athens - Thessaloniki is electrified. In the middle of the route locomotive changes from Diesel to Electric so to finish the route. One solution for that problem is the hybrid train. Hybrid trains can operate with diesel and with electricity. Hybrid could run over electrified networks and in non-electrified sided networks in villages.

For that reason Alstom, a leading company tests a new hybrid passenger train in Romania. Alstom runs several projects in Romania. Alstom operates Bucharest underground maintenance sites and a factory from 2004. Also they run electrification projects, telecoms, PIS systems and rehabilitation of trains.
