With the contribution of the LIFE programme of the European Union - LIFE14 ENV/GR/000611 and       the co-financing of Green Fund, Greece

GreenYourMove platform integrates a novel emissions calculation model and a new algorithm for calculating the environmentally friendliest co-modal route.

GreenYourMove (GYM) is a European Research Project co-funded by LIFE, the EU financial instrument for the environment - LIFE14 ENV/GR/000611. Six partners from Greece (University of Thessaly, AVMap GIS S.A., TRAINOSE S.A. and EMISIA S.A.), Czech Republic (CHAPS spol. s.r.o.) and the Netherlands (Stichting Plannerstack) collaborate under the coordination of the University of Thessaly for the project’s deliverables. The project just started in September 2015 and will last until August 2018.

GreenYourMove aims in developing a navigational optimization application, (suitable for PCs, tablets, and mobile phones), which will be able to schedule the most suitable route for it’s' users via the public transportation assets provided, and will also reduce emissions simultaneously. An early version of the navigator was presented to Greek public transportation operators on April 2016 and in June 2016 the database of the platform has been completed. The main purpose of the platform development is the reduction of carbon and environmental footprint in European region. For the development of the platform new novel emission calculation models and new modeling and solution approaches for the environmental co-modal Vehicle Routing Problem (co-VRP) have been developed.

The novelty of the model relies on the specification that it is adjusted at least to common vehicles employed in the Czech Republic, Greek and The Netherlands (hereafter CGN) transport network. Also this model takes part co-modal transportation. In the development of the model six more factors (both static and dynamic) are included. These factors include grade, weather conditions, A/C usage, road condition, occupancy rate and vehicle speed.  The new models calculate GHG emissions.. The energy-fuel consumption of the vehicles is also part of the methodology, mainly since it is related to the CO2 emissions.

For finding the optimal route GYM developed modeling and solution approaches for the environmental co-modal Vehicle Routing Problem (co-VRP). This new model integrates GTFS data from transportation companies. Finally heuristic, exact and hybrid solution approaches have been used for the co-VRP;

Furthermore, GreenYourMove participated in ESCC 2017, the 4th International 'Energy, Sustainability and Climate Change' Convention, which took place from 12 to 16 of June, in Santorini. The convention presented various projects by professionals active in energy, climate change, and optimization development fields. GreenYourMove partners presented topics related to the field of transport, environment and transport optimization.
