The database of the environmental - friendly navigator GreenYourMove has been completed

GreenYourMove (GYM) is a European Research Project co-funded by LIFE, the EU financial instrument for the environment - LIFE14 ENV/GR/000611. Six partners from Greece (University of Thessaly, AVMap GIS S.A., TRAINOSE S.A. and EMISIA S.A.), Czech Republic (CHAPS spol. s.r.o.) and the Netherlands (Stichting Plannerstack) collaborate under the coordination of the University of Thessaly for the project’s deliverables. The project just started in September 2015 and will last until August 2018.

GreenYourMove aims in developing a navigational optimization application, (suitable for PCs, tablets, and mobile phones), which will be able to schedule the most suitable route for it’s' users via the public transportation assets provided, and will also reduce emissions simultaneously. An early version of the navigator was presented to Greek public transportation operators, on April 2016. Since then, the platform database has been completed, including all local public transportation operators (both urban and intercity bus operators, tram, metro, and trains). The complete database consists of the public transportation networks of 16 cities (Athens, Thessaloniki, Alexandroupolis, Chalkida, Florina, Ioannina, Katerini, Komotini, Lamia, Larissa, Patras, Serres, Thiva, Trikala, Volos, and Xanthi), while optimal route calculations are being performed by the use of optimization algorithms. The database specifically includes all routes, stops, and stations of all the above cities. Furthermore, it is also designed to perform its' given route optimization tasks, in accordance with given local aspects, such as traffic, and meteorological data of each selected region. Finally, in order to provide accurate calculations concerning the environmental footprints of each route, the database is enhanced by having all technical information regarding the entire public transportation fleet being used, with all engine specifications included.

Furthermore, GreenYourMove participated in the 3rd International 'Energy, Sustainability and Climate Change' Convention, which took place from 10 to 16 of July, in Marathon, Attica. The convention presented various projects by professionals active in energy, climate change, and optimization development fields. GreenYourMove partners presented topics related to the field of transport, environment and transport optimization.
